Solar Thermal Scheme
Solar thermal technology captures energy from the sun and in turn uses it to heat water. It is typically sized to meet 60% of the total hot water load of a building. It can be used to service any system where thermal energy is a requirement. This grant provides up to 30% of the overall costs of a new solar thermal installation. Air Handling Unit:
Air handling units supply and extract air from a building. They're used in mechanically ventilated buildings (as opposed to buildings with openable windows). In older buildings, these units don't recover heat. Instead it's exhausted to the atmosphere. New air handling units or retrofit options reclaim this waste heat in the extract, which in turn is used to heat incoming fresh air. The fan technology in these units can also lower electrical running costs.
